Major Stripes Trend in Time for Summer

February 23, 2017

Stripes have always paid homage to preppy fashion types but we’re seeing them make a new statement in fashion houses across the globe.  Inspired by Nantucket awnings and beach resort pool lounges, these parallel lines have taken the prep from sea side to ready-to-wear.  Put on a statement trench, a la RED Valentino, to mark your commitment to stripes this spring. Or, step up your stripe style even more with a matching blouse and pant or skirt – perfected by designer, Kate Spade and big box brand, Banana Republic.  If you’re looking to keep the look playful, pair a classic, full-leg stripe pant with a retro-inspired top like Rosie Assoulin did in her couture collection.  Or, if you want things tailored and crisp, mix up your vertical and horizontal stripes within the same color palette, as perfected by Ermanno Scervino.  Be sure to finish this look with a neutral shoe and let the stripes reign this season.
