Cold Shoulders

August 29, 2016

“Cold Shoulders” are this summer’s most coveted accessory. Tops and dresses that leave your shoulders bare have been trending for months. This fashion-must started on the Runways, and has since trickled down into mainstream stores like H&M and Zara. These tops look great on everyone, by showing off universally-flattering shoulders and clavicles. Although this trend is becoming more and more wide-spread, the next iteration has already made a presence. One-shoulder tops are the natural evolution. Feminine and fun, one- shoulder tops are more quirky and exciting then their forerunner. Pair a striped version with navy wide-leg pants for an adorable cocktail-appropriate look, a la Milly. Dress it down with ripped skinny jeans and espadrilles for an easy end-of-summer outfit. An off the shoulder top with one sleeve takes the trend to a more high-fashion, elevated place. Fendi’s Resort collection showcased a sleek black version that could even pass as work-appropriate (depending on when you work, of course). Salon’s red matching set is equal parts chic and sexy. Let one shoulder tops take the full attention of your outfit. Pair yours with separates that do not overwhelm your look. Be an early adopter to the trend by investing in one today. Quick! Like everything, its only a matter of time before all your friends start wearing a one-shoulder top as well.

Keeping up with trends is expensive, knowing how to work with the clothes you already own seems tricky, and dressing to cover your perceived flaws feels like an exercise in futility. Not any longer. Fashion and styling isn’t about expensive designers or the . . .
