On the outskirts of Charleston proper, you can still find the lightly trodden, old country roads of the South. This particular road belongs to a friend of mine whose property is so serene it makes you feel like you’ve been transported miles away from civilization. The oak trees are a canopy of lush greenery in the sky. The dogs reign the spacious fields. And, the chickens rule the roost (that’s more figurative than literal). I always leave there filled with the fresh aura of the great outdoors and, undoubtedly, a dozen delicate, perfectly imperfect, pastel eggs.
When given the opportunity to develop a creative photo shoot, I naturally, wanted to go back to that special road in the country. So, we took chickens (for real) and checks (for clothing), put them together and created our own picnic of images that day.
Our model looks like a professional with chickens. She was certainly professional but I’m fairly certain this was the first time she had chickens on her head.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed viewing the images as much as we enjoyed creating them. A special thank you to Candy Oliver, Kelly Boyd Photography, Kristin Williams, Millie Lewis and Berlin’s for Women
